RANDOM ARCHIVE ORDER

ABOUT US

Random Order was a collective of artists whose practices expand from sculpture, film and performance into new technologies with immersive environments. Sound plays a role in our individual practices but becomes the primary medium in our collective. Random Order’s projects seek to understand how sound affects the human perception of the spaces we interact with and its impact on our everyday lives. We interrogate sound’s potential to relate to the environment and open up both universal and individual stories and histories. Through exploring the acoustics of sound we deal with its physical properties, further implicating a direct engagement with matter. Random Order uses a wide array of processes in its diverse projects including DIY sound kits and field recording through both analogue and digital means. By merging and cross-referencing new technologies and devices we produce sound bridges between cultures and different modes of expression.

ARTISTS

Christiana K is a transdisciplinary artist, researcher & curator; acting, performing & reflecting trans geographically. Her artistic practice explores the interconnectedness and open-ended dialogue between art and science discourse by combining scientific concepts, laws and theories from different disciplines with an arts practice.

Lauren Franklin is a multimedia artist from Northern California who is interested in the transient nature of time and its relationship with space and form. Working with the moving image, site-specific installation and sound, she is curiously examining our perceptions of the world around us.

Aga Tamiola is a multimedia artist working out of London and Berlin. Aga’s nomadic exploration of matter manifests itself in sculptural assemblages fusing materials and processes. Her geographical misplacement led her to focus on representations of identity and belonging in the context of globalisation and new technologies.
